Class Description - Acting Classes in West Point, New York

Calling all budding young thespians! Our new ‘Acting for Kids’ class in West Point is sure to excite your drama loving child.

This is the perfect class for the late elementary to middle school child who loves the drama of life. Students attend class for 1 hour per week. The “Acting for Kids” class follows the public school cut off and is appropriate for children entering 2nd to 7th grade in the fall. The basic foundation of acting will be taught using individual monologue and group scene work. Comedy and drama will be taught from plays, musicals and original material.

A Dance & Music Design School's acting teacher will teach each class. At Dance & Music Design School our teachers understand the unique challenges of teaching children. While our classes are imaginative and creative, each class will lay the foundation for more complex acting in years to come.

All students will be given the opportunity to participate in our biannual performing arts shows. Parents will receive 2 free tickets. If needed, costumes will be rented from the school and worn over dance class attire.

Class Attire: Comfortable clothing such as t-shirt and soft cloth pants (not jeans), dance shoes or socks to be worn on the dance floor. No street shoes are allowed inside the dance rooms.

Show Attire: If costumes are needed, students should wear the same attire worn in dance class or a neutral leotard and tights.
